Re: Even John B. was not sure he had cut through the thick fabric
of my query. :( I knew it was hard to describe what I was getting
at. I think John B. answered it OK, but how about a diagram to
make sure we're on the same plane...I mean "page." ;)
R W

G______|___________X_|___G
F 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
R = Position of Realist
R-F = Plane of film plane
W-7 = Parallel plane 7 feet from R-F
G-G = Ground
X = Position of object on ground
Numbers = distance in feet, measured along ground
The height of R above G is such that the distance from
R* to F is more than seven feet, even though the distance
from F to X is only 6 feet. If the chips are mounted
with the stereo window at 7 feet, will X appear in front
of or behind the stereo window? (It is *more* than 7 ft
from the camera, and standard advice is that objects
more than 7 feet away will appear behind the window.)
* Think of R as the image X will create on the film
in the camera if you want to get real precise, but I'm
trying to keep it simple
Thanks,
Paul Talbot
