Sounds like there was an even greater problem with my thick head 
and my thick prose.  8-)

It does indeed look like we're on the same page.  I would 
reiterate my caveat that the actual center of perspective is 
the entrance pupil of the lens and that is where you should
measure your 7' from.  I hadn't realized that your object was
closer than 7', measuring plane to plane, but greater measuring
point to point.  It is plane to plane that matters.  Dr. T's
point is correct that there are other windows than rectangular
ones that are parallel to the film plane.  However, they're not
common.  Very interesting, though.
