My "Historical Preservation Through Stereoscopic Photography" is a
long-term, continuing project wherein I am attempting to capture in 3d
pictures of subjects of historical or cultural value and interest.
While primarily oriented toward buildings and other manmade objects, it
could include people. (However, a person's value is frequently decided
by history and personal feelings and beliefs may affect our choice of
subject.) So many unique and beautiful things are disappearing
everyday because of neglect, but more often the demands of progress.
I live in West Virginia, not far from Clarksburg. There, not long
ago, the Goff building, a home of some historical interest, was torn
down inspite of local efforts to preserve it. (A gas company park
replaced it.)
Schools, post offices, railroads, bridges ... gone, never to
reappear. Except in stereoviews which can recreate the scene if we
act now to photograph them.
I, personally, have already missed a number of opportunities
because I wrongly assumed the objects (or people) in question would
be there when I got around to taking stereoviews.
Hope this clarifies the goal I have in mind.
    Julius
