JPS format

My two cents on the issue of JPS is that it is a great
benefit to the stereoscopic community. It will advance
the use of stereo images on the web. JPS is simply a
standard for storing two images. It allows developers
to write programs, such as DepthCharge, that handles
the translation of the stereo image into whatever
format the user prefers. The great advantage of JPS is
that it defaults to a basic side-by-side cross eyed
image that can be viewed on even the most primitive
computer graphics systems, yet with the right software
the same file can be viewed with interlaced LCS systems.
Before JPS the only standard was interlaced JPG or GIF,
which can only be viewed with LCS glasses. Bottom line
is that VRex could have come out with another closed
proprietary file format that only worked with THEIR
glasses. I for one am grateful to VRex for having the
wisdom to push for a standard.
