Yes, more or less... (even a fraction of a mm deviation will make the
object appear either in front of or behind the window.

The two concepts are inter-related.  If you position objects that are 7ft
from the camera at window level then you also have the infinity separation
fixed, provided that the same camera and mounts are used.
