P3D 3D-SCOPE
________________________________________________
3D-SCOPE
The BIG event for our Cascade Stereoscopic Club this year is our first
annual Stereoscopic Show at OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and
Industry, the same institution where we hold our monthly meetings.
Our members have been working very hard for this event, and continue to do
so with a great amount of dedication. With weekly meetings and long hours
into the night, we all hope this will be a success for the club and the
community, at the beginning of the fifth anniversary of the club.
The event is called 3D-Scope and will take place during the full weekend of
February 28 and March 1. It is comprised of three parts:
The Stereoscopic Theater features four different slide shows each day
representing members and guests in 3 formats: Realist, full frame and VM.
The Digital Stereoscopy section features about half a dozen computers with
LC glasses. Some of the software and computers are provided by NuVision. A
special color printer is provided by Tektronix. Some computers are
connected to the Internet via fast connections. Some of the demonstrations
will include use of digital cameras to show the public an "instant" method
to produce stereoscopic images on screen.
The "Traditional" section of the show will have display cases showing
classical and new stereoscopic equipment and literature as well as panel
exhibits illustrating with words and pictures the "what, when, and how" of
stereoscopic photography.
Finally we will have a hands-on demonstration area, where visitors will
have a chance to see first hand how slides and prints are mounted and
viewed, ask questions and fill out surveys.
We expect from 1,000 to 3,000 visitors to see the show during these two
days and of course we expect that as a result, some will join our club. But
most importantly, we hope to increase the awareness and interest in 3-D in
our community and other communities as well.
