Just for the record - and to give credit where credit's due - this idea
was first formulated by UK Stereoscopic Society member John Gill as far
back as July 1994, in an article in 'The Stereoscopic Society Journal of
3-D Imaging, Number 125. Some modifications, and improvements, were
subsequently suggested by Harry Everett in Journal 128 (April 1995).
Of course, neat but simple ideas like this can emerge quite independently
from a number of sources and there's no suggestion of any copyright.
