On the contrary, the advantage of properly done anaglyph is they can be a
lot larger than stereo pairs, making the fact that they are photo-mechanical
less apparent. To magnify a series of dots, you just get bigger dots.
Compared to the original view, early PM images in books are poor
representations, losing the depth perception, and not even coming close to
the reality they may be trying to duplicate. Freeviewing such a small image
doesn't help much in my opinion.

But it's not just the poor reproduction, but the images themselves. Examples
like "Seated nude" and "Formal Fashion" have the art of a passport, with no
advantage to depth at all. Yes there are some that would probably be good in
the proper viewing context.

My feeling is that Morgan and Lester basically followed the same format as
before, instead of trying to improve on what had already been done.

As my original point stated, those standards have now changed with Mark's
excellent books, so I will hope that this will now be the new standard that
others will strive for.
