Regarding the "GAP" ad;
> >Yes, but don't assume that everything winds up digital. The film to tape
> >transfer process (flying spot scanner) is an analogue process,
Hardly. Most of these Ranks are being replaced with "scanners" like the
Spirit, that are actually not called "telecines", but rather
"datacines". Post-production is very much a digital world, with analogue
being used for the occasional playback of an archive tape.
and there

Only if you're making a student film! Seriously - Beta SP Masters are
for those with a shoestring budget. Not the GAP. By the way, we have
digital Betacam SPs at our work; audio can be transfered to them much
the same way a DAT does, and the video is routed through a digital
router. Most clients use Digital Betacam (different from a digital
Betacam SP machine,) to Master to. We are also using a digital
uncompressed format called D5 for alot of things like feature work, such
as "Lost In Space".
