This begs the question, "Why did they (Loreo/Argus) not just then
go with a single lens camera?" I can only speculate that it would
have been harder for the smaller single lens on the Loreo/Argus to
intercept the two images from the inside two mirrors. Not that it
can't be done however since Fuji had such a stereo-adaptor for a
single-use (and single lens) camera awhile back.

I believe the idea was to avoid the keystoning which occurs with a single
lens and beamsplitter when the lens crosses over and transposes the two
images.
