P3D Auctions on E-bay

I've been folowing with some interest the discussion on the list regarding
bidding strategies on E-BAY. I recently won an auction where a sniper tried
to outbid me at the last moment.
I placed a bid for the item a couple days before the auction ended and was
outbid once. I re-bid for what I was willing to pay, and watched the
bidding. At the last minute, 2 or 3 bids were placed, and the high bid went
up quite a bit(about 50%). I still won. Why? Because my high bid was so
much higher than the snipers thought, that by the time they figured out how
high my bid was, it was too late. They bid and re-bid and re-bid, trying to
find out how high I had bid. Never did get close. I still had about a $25
buffer when the auction ended. Did I pay too much? Of course not!! I paid
what I wanted to pay!!.
Auctions have a number of participants. The problem is that there are some
people bidding who actually want to possess what they are bidding on, and
there are those that want to be able to sell to someone else what they are
bidding on. I would suggest that E-Bay is not the place to get a wholesale
price. Bid to own, not to re-sell, and snipers will not be a problem.
Just my 2 cents worth.
