The only 3-D attachment that I am aware of for consumer
camcorders is the Nu-View adapter for field-sequential 3-D.
But an attachment like you describe would certainly be
possible.

If it would be a "moving" 3-D video, a fairly complex switcher and
digital effects unit would be needed to make side by side images
that were not cropped in any way to fit properly in the 1.37:1 television
ratio. A (very) old issue of "Video" or "Video Review" used a two
camera set-up, both gen-locked and configured for 3-D, while a
video switcher made a wipe halfway between the two cameras
for cross-eyed viewing.

A newer digital switcher with multiple frame storage might
also be able to produce side by side 3-D video "stills"as well.

And on a related note, a company called StereoVision
International actually released a few 3-D videos with one
widescreen left image on the top, and the right widescreen
image on the bottom. The two 2.35:1 widescreen images fit
nicely in the TV's 1.37:1 frame. How was the 3-D effect?
I can't say for sure, because I don't have the special prism
glasses to properly merge the top and bottom 3-D images.
(While crossing my eyes I tried laying on my side to view
the tape, which worked but also brought on a headache.
..The things I'll do to try to view a film in 3-D!!)

The only website address I have is for the Nu-View field-
sequential 3-D adaptor. http://www.3-dvideo.com/2index.html

Understood completely. The only reason I am also sending this
reply to the list as well is to hopefully encourage more discussions
on this topic, and perhaps some others will offer us both further
ideas or insights.

Best regards & a Happy Thanksgiving,
