Another alternative is to buy high capacity NiCd batteries on the
web from battery-pack makers. There's one in Ohio (I think) I bought
some from that are 1300 maH and were about $3 each (or a bit less).
Because they were made for battery packs, they have tabs on them, but
they can be removed okay. The bodies also are a hair longer than standard
but since battery compartments are made with spring-loading, the springs
can handle the very slight overage. Works very nicely with my battery
hog digital camera (that'll do about 3 pictures with alkalines, but
maybe 50~70 or so with those nicd ones).
I use the charger that came with the 1100 mAH Panasonic Nicads from Costco.
Costco sells those 1100 mAH ones separately (w/o charger) now too.
I'm assuming size "AA" batteries.
