Measure from the center to the center.
By 4 to 8 feet do you mean that the
near object is at 4' and the furthest
is at 8' (ie nothing at 20' or infinity)?
Or is this a range of subjects with the
nearest being from 4 up to 8' and the far
point being at infinity?
On John B's site he has an Excel spread
sheet called MAOFD (Maximum Allowable On
Film Deviation). It will answer you questions
based on the film format you are using, lens
focal length, near and far points. It will
give you the maximum stereo base that won't
exceed the OFD limits.
