RFC = "Request for Comments". Essentially, a proposed specification. When
adopted, however, they don't change the name.
SMTP = "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol". The ARPANET protocol for exchanging
mail messages. It is specified by RFC 821. The RFC for mail headers is
RFC 822. Such exciting and stimulating bedtime reading may be found at
http://www.sendmail.org/rfc/

SMTP = Small-Minded Talk Program. Rush Limbaugh and the like. :-)
UUCP = "User to User Confusion Passing"*. It refers to the conveyance and
proliferation of incorrect information on the Internet. :-)

(*Please note this is a joke, it really stands for "Unix-to-Unix CP".
'cp' is the Unix 'copy file' command, and since UUCP originally copied
files between Unix systems, it was by analogy called UUCP.)
