Hello,

A year ago I tried a variety of cheap "silvery" and white screens and
paints. They all repolarized the light so that seperation of the images
was impossible.

Before you spend a lot of time at it, paint a small sample and project
the linearly polarized light onto it from only one side of your
projector. Then look at the screen through a polarizer or one lens of
your viewing glasses. Rotate the viewing polarizer. Does the screen ever
become very dark? If not, then the light coming back from the screen is
not linearly polarized and you will get terrible ghosting.

If you can rotate the viewing polarizer so that the screen becomes very
dark then you have a good screen. Try it with a known good screen so
that you can see what you should be looking for.
