The way I had some them mismounted is that I did not bother to use a spacer when I put the chip holder strips in place.  I just made sure the image fit in the window.  Some of the chips
were as much as 3 mm too close or too far from each other.  Some of them were even off vertically.

I do agree that when I, by myself, am in charge of changing slides, adjusting individual focus, the vertical, and the horizontal, I get confused and move the wrong knob, however, when
one projectionist is projecting general club slides (different mounts and different mounting skills), and three very competent people immediately correct the misalignments and mis-focus,
it is as pleasing as someone correcting focus accurately and quickly.
