Before the four wire conversion my KR-10Ms (XR10-Ms) synced at low speed and
even synced for flash at 1/30 sec if the flash was on a selected camera.
However, using the look through both cameras method described in
Stereoscopy, I only got good sync up to 1/125 sec and even then only on
about 75% of occasions. My KR10-Ms were purchased second hand and were
manufactured years apart.

With the four wire system I get sync at 1/500 sec almost all the time and on
about 50% of test I get sync at 1/1000 sec. I do not seem to ever get full
sync at 1/2000 sec, but I do not recall ever having used that shutter speed
for stereo work.

One of our Sydney club members using twin KR-10Ms had a lot of trouble with
sync until he realised that he needed to wake up each cameras before each
shot.

The four wire system is not a master slave arrangement, it just parallels
the shutter release, the wake up circuit and the batteries.

The other advantage of the 4 wire system is that it gets the connection away
from the rather poor location of the jack plugs at the back of the cameras.
