When I used heat seal mounts I made a device that has a small flat hot
tip, hot enough to activate the adhesive, but not hot enough to damage
film. I used this to tack the chips in place prior to sealing.

There is too much play between the tabs on heatseal mounts to keeps the
chips in place for accurate mounting without taping or other method.
Often it is necessary to flatten out the tabs and slide the chips
farther apart or together to correct for special situations. Before I
made the tacking iron, I used tape to hold the chips in position.

Now I shoot mostly 7 perf, and use Spicer mounts and silver Mylar tape.
(For Darren's benefit, Spicer mounts are cardboard mounts without
alignment tabs or adhesive that are very accurately made and come in a
variety of apertures).
