At one time, Kodak published a pamphlet that explained how to make
separations from color originals specifically for archival storage.
Granted, you are not about to make seps from every image and most people
would not be able to properly print them.
I too, have had faded and color shifted Kodachromes, but ironically, they
were those done by Technicolor.
