Sadly, this is very true.  Twin strip 3-D has become nearly extinct in
theatrical exhibition (or at least, it is a very endangered species).
Today it is pretty much limited to special venue auditoriums (mainly Imax
and theme parks).

However, it is quite possible to retrofit most theaters for single strip 3-D
for a cost that is usually much less than what they put in to their sound
systems.   Food for thought.
