You are right, I should have thought in terms of a follow-up, but I
did not write down the name of the person who answered the number
(800) 645-6687.
During our conversation, each time I asked about possible
developments in the Coolpix 990 camera and accessories, the reply was
a stock answer to the effect that such information is proprietary.
At the end of the call, the recipient mentioned that he would
consider making a suggestion to those in development.. My closing
remark was to the effect that he should go for it... wouldn't it be
great to have the product, and for him to make anything that he might
get for a "good suggestion?"

It would be expensive, but "Are there two members of your family?"
No need to answer that, but the camera is an easy one to operate on
the automatic setting. My camera is really "our" camera.
Would also be nice to separate the lens element

The twin optical system on the same CCD would be another possibility,
but I tried to avoid any suggestion that would involve major redesign
of their primary product. When I learned about the remote control it
seemed more probable to me that it might be less expensive for Nikon
to modify it than it would be to modify the camera itself.
Now, I am not rushing off to the dinner table, so I will correct some
spelling. I do know that it is Juneau, Alaska, and I do know the
spelling of my name (of all things!).
