I'll call as well asking about camera details for twinning.
Maybe if they get a few calls they might loosen up.

Since the lens of 990 rotates, one would think it shouldn't be too
difficult to dismantle it so to extend the wires to the lens 
section for remote placement.
Could you try this with your camera?
