This has come up a couple times.  I took a WAG to come up with
the above solution, which can be seen in more detail at:

(located by searching for duplex advance).  Apparently the same
solution was provided off-list by some folks in the know.  Shilo
Teshima confirmed the above approach and added that it is possible
to squeeze 30 pairs onto a roll instead of just 24.  Shilo's post:
