      I started sniping after somebody sniped me, winning the
      auction for just a $1 more.  In a real auction I would have
      gone a few dollars more than my 'max', assuming we're talking
      only a 1-3% above that max.  To loose an auction of something
      you'd like to have for just a buck is annoying.  In most
      cases I don't get to snip simply because some folks really
      *have* bid it up well over what I'd even consider paying.
