I think that Doug was asking about two cameras, each
with a flash unit, fired manually, and sequentially.

Using the soft box technique I suggested could 
work for people sitting around a table or posing 
for a picture, but not when they start dancing.

Your suggestion of aiming one of the flash units upward
is good only if he can get his cameras to fire in sync.
