Thank you all for your support. First of all, I take responsibility
for my mistake. It is just a fact of life that a little inattention,
can do much damage.
I talked with Dan Costea, and he wants to use the camera, so I offered
to help him. As a follower of Jesus, I'm compelled to respond to evil
with good - I'm not talking about being a doormat. Perhaps my
gentleness will be more persuasive than my appeal to his morals,
which initially fell on deaf ears. I am looking into small claims
court and/or civil court just in case I need to go that route.
I did look into that court case that was mentioned. The court decided
that the painting must go back to the nephew [the heir to the owner's
estate], as he never intended to give it to the Salvation Army, and
therefore they didn't own the title to it, and couldn't sell it.
Thanks again for your offers of donations. It still would be an
injustice though, proving to him that imorality pays. I value his
moral education more than my camera. I want to give him a chance to
do the right thing for the right reasons.
Thanks again,
Grant
