It gets hot on the top, mostly (it's been awhile since I used it
and I don't have it here in Montana). Since it came to me from
my folks estate, it's absolutely stock - as best as I recall the bulb
is the same as it originally was supplied with. 

I'll have to check when I get home in about 6 weeks or so.
