I'd like to apologize for and retract my previous comments
about web rings except for the part about my ignorance.
It often happens that I regret the wording of my posts,
but this case was especially bad IMHO.  The only excuse
I can offer is my frustration in watching something that
was built up over years by many fine members be taken
away from them.

Now I do think that with good management, web rings can
remain useful for a very long time.
