I happened to be at the local pro-photo shop, and picked up a pamphlet on
Kodak 120 transparency films - in particular Ektachrome Pro 100S (I
think), and its variant, Ektachrome Pro 100SW (so-called "warm balance") -
hope I got those product names correct, as I'm running on memory here.

For both films, the pamphlet specifically states that the illumination
source for viewing and projection should be 5000K.

I'd like to track down some data for other transparency films too, like
Kodachrome and some of the Fuji products. In the interim, it looks like the
optimum illumination source for viewing is possibly around 5000K.
