David:

Very interesting comments/questions from you. My first reaction to
"anaglyph camera" is that I've only heard of some anaglyph lenses that can
be fitted to regular cameras, and that they produce only a slight
stereoscopic effect - i.e. they would be most unsuitable to your needs,
which are to maximise the realism, to recreate an orthostereoscopic view of
a site.

I am very very keen on recreating the geometrically correct view of what I
photograph (the orthostereoscopic view), which is why I've been shooting
with a twin SLR, using 50mm lenses. These match many of the inexpensive
stereo slide viewers available for viewing 2x2 pairs (standard slide
mounts). It is an inexpensive solution from the viewing end, though
dealing with a twin SLR entails certain drawbacks.

If you enjoy viewing in a standard Realist viewer (which is 44mm f.l.?) you
could also shoot with an SLR using 44mm lenses.

Under separate cover I will send you my Twin Rig Recap.

Boris

Sometimes, good candid shots require careful posing.
