- - Name: Pico Ashe

- - Profession/Study: virtually retired

- - Country: USA

- - Personal history of photography: Began in 1964 as a departure from hand
lithography. In 1969 hired as photojournalist for a major Chicago
metropolitan daily. Moved to magazine work later. Injured and retired from
professional work in 1977. Rural life since.

- - Preferred subjects: That which cannot be seen without the camera.

- - Materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry): Stictly B&W. Whatever works.

- - Format (35mm/medium format/large format): Medium and large format only.

- - Other strange hobbies: :) Well, I built motorcycles for several years
with types ranging from cafe racers (sixties) to Harleys (one of which is
rather well-known.) Rode for 37 years until last year when I had to quit
because my back and leg injuries caught up to me. Gardening, reading and
writing are my other interests. My formal education was in Philosophy.
Oxford, England.

- - How did you find out about this list: WJ's Photo Homepage

- - Expand on anything photographic you like: While my work was respected by
my peers and much of the public, I should never have been a photojournalist.
What interests me the most is the things a camera can show us that the eye
cannot.
