Thanks for all the responses on this one. I've developed a bunch of HIE,
always use HC110 or D76. Never had a problem. This was a test shoot of some
new gear. Rated film at EI200 with a #25 filter. The Xtol was mixed from a
small pack, making 1 liter of stock. I diluted this with 1 liter of water
(1/1). Developed one roll, agitating every 30 seconds. Don't know what
happened, but the negatives (those that actually came out) were less than
half the density of my normal HIE. Fortunately, was a test roll of static
subjects - am going to reshoot all and do another test. I have heard real
raves for xtol here and wanted to compare grain structures as opposed to my
normally pebble size grain of hc110 (an effect I love for many subjects).
Really want to find out what went wrong with this one. SO, a calibrating I
will go.........
