I agree with George T. that a slide bar would be nice. However, I
did quite well with a single camera and a strange tripod I bought
years ago. The central column on this tilts as well goes up and
down. Tilt it so it is horizontal, mount the camera so it is
horizontal, and move it about 2.5 inches. Move 2 feet and buildings
look like dollhouses.
The tripod was branded Spiratone, but I haven't seen anything like
it in the recent Spiratone catalogs. I think I saw identical tripods
under the Velbon brand, but I can't remember if it was last year or
ten years ago.
However, since you are at Stanford and I live next door in Palo Alto,
I would be willing to lend you mine, with conditions. Promise to try
not to let it fall off a cliff, and to try to return it, and to take
two or three extra pairs for me of some nice scenery.
