I think a few things are being over looked.
First, the SaturnSlide MF stereo viewer is a kit to be assembled by
the end user. As is the kit is very easy to assemble (coming from a
model airplane builder). Adding an interocular adjustment would very
likely make the kit a lot more complicated to assemble.
Second, the design and manufacturing of the parts for an interocular
adjustment that could be easily assembled would likely add to the cost
of the kit.
Third, I don't find the SaturnSlide to be expensive. I had already
bought my lenses before I bought my SaturnSlide (one of the early
ones). The amount of time and materials that it would take to
duplicate the SaturnSlide (by using the designs available online
<URL:http://www.skep.com/3D/gallery.htm>) could quite easily exceed
the the cost of the SaturnSlide. The cost of the current SaturnSlide
is based primarily on the cost of the lenses it uses (for which you
have several choices).
Fourth, I have a somewhat narrow eye spacing and have no trouble with
the spacing on the SaturnSlide, or the simliar viewer that Tom Deering
made.
